Home Care Instructions

Your tooth and surrounding gum tissue may be slightly tender for several days following treatment. This tenderness or soreness is normal and should not be alarming for the patient. Please note that just because the tooth is sensitive, it does not mean that the treatment was unsuccessful. For the next few days, try to eat on the opposite side of your mouth and a soft diet is recommended for rapid healing. A warm salt water rinse will help alleviate any discomfort in the gum tissue. After treatment has been completed, you may continue your regular dental hygiene regimen. The area of treatment may be sensitive for a few days.

Discomfort may be alleviated by taking ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), aspirin, or acetaminophen (Tylenol) as directed. If you are sensitive to these medications, or have been advised by your physician against taking them, please ask us for alternatives.

NOTE: Alcohol intake is not advised while taking ibuprofen or acetaminophen. Should you experience discomfort after taking the above medications, or should swelling develop, please contact the office immediately. If you need to call after hours, please have your pharmacy number available. Prescriptions or antibiotics will only be called in for patients of Wichita Falls Endodontics.
