Discomfort

Your treated tooth will be tender to biting down and to pressure for a few days following treatment, so please try to chew on the opposite side of your mouth. Try to avoid hard or crunchy foods, and a soft diet is recommended for a few days.

If your gums are sore around the treated area, a warm saltwater rinse will help reduce any discomfort and help the tissues to heal.

Discomfort may be alleviated by taking ibuprofen (Advil or Aleve), aspirin, or acetaminophen (Tylenol) as directed. Ibuprofen would be our drug of choice due to its anti-inflammatory properties. If you are sensitive to these medications, or have been advised by your physician against taking them, please ask us for alternatives.

NOTE: Alcohol intake is not advised while taking ibuprofen or acetaminophen. Should you experience discomfort after taking the above medications, or should swelling develop, please contact this office immediately. If you need to call after hours, please have your pharmacy number available. Prescriptions or antibiotics will only be called in for patients of Wichita Falls Endodontics.
