Before Endodontic Treatment

All of our dental procedures are performed using local anesthesia to minimize any discomfort to the patient. Once the procedure is complete, there are usually no restrictions with regard to driving or returning to work or school, unless otherwise specified by Dr. Baker. Wichita Falls Endodontics is available after hours should any problems arise.

If you can take anti-inflammatories, such as ibuprofen (Advil) or naproxen (Aleve), it does help to reduce inflammation when taken before the appointment. We highly recommend taking 2 tablets of either medication 2 hours before endodontic therapy. Patients that take anti-inflammatory drugs prior to treatment have significantly less post-operation sensitivity or discomfort.

Please continue all current medications unless otherwise directed by your physician or by Dr. Baker. This is very important for patients taking medications for blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid problems and any other conditions as recommended by your physician. It is also important to eat a full breakfast or lunch as applicable, especially for diabetic patients.

Your physician or dentist may advise you to use antibiotic pre-medication if you have been diagnosed with: a heart murmur, mitral valve prolapse (MVP), hip, knee, cardiac or other prosthesis or any other cardiac condition. Please make sure you have taken the appropriate antibiotic the day of your appointment.
